Assuming that the Play-Off group scenario is 2 x groups of 3 teams looks like the Hornets will finish the season in 3rd spot, and be in the same group as League Champs Invicta.

Invicta lost 6-3 to Cardiff on the weekend.

Cardiff are two points behind the Hornets with 2 games in hand? Both the Hornets and Invicta have Cardiff still to play but it looks like Cardiff are odds-on for 2nd spot especially as they lead the head to head record by 3 wins to 1 on the head to head record.

Assuming the tie break scenario is as above it looks like the 2 x play-off groups will be

Invicta, Bracknell and Oxford or IoW
and
Cardiff, Chelmsford and Oxford or IoW

The ENL has been a great division this year and I have to say that the top 6 sides are all capable of giving anyone a tough game.

Would have preferred to finish 2nd but I think that Cardiff will nick it now? Think Alison also mentioned that Invicta have lost an "import" so perhaps this may be a blessing in disguise?

Exciting end to the season in prospect though with all to play for.

C'mon the Hornets.

Are you sure about the play-off groups?

Normally, to give the champions an advantage, they tend to be 1st, 4th and 6th in one group and 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the other

THREAD - Hornets at home to Streatham Redskins tonight

Buzz - Not 100% sure myself but according to the thread above - it was 1/3/5 and 2/4/6, however, like yourself I thought it was rather strange. I had plumped for 1/3/5 or 1/4/6 myself.

Extract of Post from PUCK101 -

My understanding is the groups are 1/3/5 and 2/4/6 with everyone in each group playing home and away against the other 2.

The 2 group winners will then play a final home and away and there will be no north south final at all

Anyone know for 100% how the ENL Play-Off groups will be decided?

Whatever way it is it will be a cracking end to the season.

I think somewhere it is recorded by the league both ways i.e. 1,3,5 & 2,4,6 and 1,4,6 & 2,3,5 but someone on THF said it was brought up at a league meeting and no one apart from Invicta and Oxford cared so they made it 1,3,5 & 2,4,6 so the groups are above are the most likely.

Invicta and Oxford would be the best in terms of travel for the Hornets

The last weekend of league fixtures is 20th & 21st March so i can only assume the play offs will start the following weekend 27th & 28th until the 17th & 18th April. Nothing on either the EIHA or Hornets site though

Will the Hornets finish 2nd?

We are two points clear of Cardiff (who have a game remaining H to Harringey?) According to the ENL web site this has been awarded as a 5-0 to Harringey?

light blue scores indicate a game which has been awarded as an away win

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/malcolm.pr ... eague.html

I had assumed that Cardiff would beat Haringey and pip the Hornets on head to head record.

Anyone know the real picture, has this game been awarded to Harringey? If it has the Hornets will finish 2nd.

it wouldn't be a shock if it's changed, but 1-4-6 and 2-3-5 is what was decided at the league AGM last June.

The minutes are in the resources and forms section of the EIHA website

BTW, the game awarded to Hariay was earlier in the season. They play at the palace this Sunday

The playoffs can't start this weekend, as quite a few teams still have either 1 or 2 games to play.
Will hopefully be the following weekend. As soon as Larry lets me know that the fixtures have been released I'll post them :)
